One Health Workforce - Next Generation at the 7th World One Health Congress 2022

Several members of the OHW-NG Consortium had the pleasure of attending the 7th World One Health Congress 2022 last week in Singapore where they met and shared their experiences in research, training, and education in One Health with the global community.  At the event, our own Dr. Samuel Wanjohi (AFROHUN Kenya) received the award for best oral presentation in Policy, Environment, and Biosecurity for his talk: ‘Bridging the gap and catalyzing environmental involvement for One Health: The AFROHUN Experience”.

“As it is said, it takes a village to raise and educate a child. Borrowing from this saying, I wish to take this opportunity to acknowledge the OHW-NG team that made the achievements possible, from the AFROHUN Kenya team, the Regional Secretariat, the Global Consortium Team, to the USAID mission, and GHSA partners.” - Dr. Samuel Wanjohi, AFROHUN Kenya Country Manager

Amongst the many presentations focused on the more anthropomorphic (human centered) aspects of One Health, OHW-NG Consortium members emphasized that One Health is better appreciated in more ‘eco-centric’ terms, taking into consideration the complexity of interrelated systems and associated challenges that only a transdisciplinary approach such as One Health can effectively address.
